Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does a performer earn at events?

A: A performer will earn $50 for the first hour of their event and $25 for each additional event hour, plus travel time to and from their event, gas compensation (from Weston) and any tips you may receive.

Q: What is performer training like and how much will a performer earn during training?

A: Before a performer is ready to join in on Event Bookings, character training at our home base is required. This fun filled day focuses on getting into costume, character mannerisms and dialogue, and the themed activities offered for parties. At the end of the session, your skills are put to the test by visiting a local Day Care. Training pay is $10 per hour.

Q: I have my own costume and wig. Can I use them instead?

A: If your costuming meets our criteria, then yes!

Q: Do characters go to events alone?

A: We always try to utilize the buddy system for our events that are over an hour long. For 30 minute visits and meet and greets at local businesses, the performer will go unattended (as those bookings are pretty easy to handle alone). Before a performer does any event solo, they will train alongside other characters or have an attendant with them.

Q: What sizes are your costumes?

A: Most of our costumes have a lace up back, which allows for flexibility and can fit a size 2 through 8.

Q: I work a full time job during the week. Can I still apply?

A: Absolutely! About 80% of our bookings are on the weekends, with the most popular time frame being Saturday afternoon. And depending on the popularity of your character, you may only be needed for 1-5 parties per month (or 1 every few months depending on the character).

Q: Can performers have tattoos?

A: A small tattoo that can be covered easily is okay! Large visible tattoos and sleeves are not accepted because they are too difficult to cover in order to embody the character at their fullest.

Q: Can performers have braces?

A: No, performers cannot have braces. This allows our characters to most accurately represent themselves from prior meetings that child may have had with a different performer and look just like the role model from their favorite toy, book or movie.

Q: Do you have an event space in Weston?

A: While we do not currently offer a space to host events, we do travel to client’s addresses within 100 miles of Weston, WV (where our costume headquarters is based.)

Q: How far do performers travel for parties?

A: We accept bookings up to 100 miles from Weston. Travel time is paid $10 per hour on top of your event rate, and gas is compensated for locations over 30 miles from Weston. For events 100 miles away, team members earn $15 an hour for premium travel.

Q: Will I be paid for my time and gas when traveling from my home to the Weston home base?

A: No. As event rates are a premium pay rate, it is up to the performer to arrive at home base to prepare for their booking or arrange costume pickup prior to the booked event. As we do charge a travel fee to our customers for parties located over 30 miles, these travel rates are kept the same per town by choosing our Weston home base as the starting point.

Q: Can a performer just work during the summer?

A: At this time, no. We invest a lot of time and heart into character training in hopes that this opportunity will be one performers are excited to participate in. As our bookings are popular throughout the year (especially around holidays), when we train new performers they are expected to work throughout the year to keep the knowledge from their training and performance skills sharp.
